"Meeting Community Needs, One Person at a Time"
Emergency Services and CIT Coordinator
The Emergency Services Coordinator (ESC) provides oversight of crisis services across the three Smoky regions. There is collaboration and frequent communication among multiple agencies to evaluate high risk cases, identify gaps, resources and provide support to promote community relationships. Agencies include law enforcement, local and state hospitals, Department of Social Services, magistrates, providers, especially mobile crisis management, NC START and other departments within the Smoky Mountain Center LME.
The ESC oversees the State Hospital Pilot program. Review and analysis is completed on state hospital and 3-way hospital admissions.
Training is an important component and the Emergency Services Coordinator is also the Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) Coordinator. CIT Trainings have been held at Mayland Community College, Southwestern Community College, Wilkes Community College, Caldwell Community College and Haywood Community College. A brochure and pictures of the CIT trainings are attached.
As of August 2011, 107 officers across the Smoky catchment area are CIT certified.
