Title :   Supports Intensity Scale (SIS) Assessor

General Statement of the Job : The Supports Intensity Scale (SIS) Assessor is responsible for scheduling and completing administration of the SIS, to include scoring the assessment and preparing a summary report. In addition, the SIS Assessor may conduct other assessments/evaluations as requested.

Essential Job Functions : Assessment/Evaluation and Collaboration - Schedule and administer the Supports Intensity Scale (SIS) as assigned. SIS Assessor may complete clinical evaluations, as needed, to evaluate current cognitive and adaptive functioning, gather relevant facts of psychosocial history and current status, review diagnoses using all five Axes of the most current DSM, and provide referral resources and recommendations as appropriate. Prepare a written report of the results of assessment, including conclusions/recommendations as appropriate, in a timely manner. Assist treatment team with understanding the overall results of the SIS, as well as, incorporating the results of the SIS into the person centered plan. Assist with provision of education/training as needed to promote positive outcomes of SIS initiative. Ensure responsiveness to feedback/questions/concerns from individuals, families and providers related to the SIS. Collaborate with other members of the SIS team to ensure consistency between interviewers and over time. Assist as needed with development of operational/training materials related to Supports Intensity Scale.

Minimum Training and Qualifications : Position must be Qualified Professional. A QP within the mh/dd/sas system of care is defined as the following:
(a) an individual who holds a license, provisional license, certificate, registration or permit issued by the governing board regulating a human service profession, except a registered nurse who is licensed to practice in the State of North Carolina by the North Carolina Board of Nursing who also has four years of full-time accumulated experience in mh/dd/sa with the population served; or
(b) a graduate of a college or university with a Masters degree in a human service field and has one year of full-time, post-graduate degree accumulated mh/dd/sa experience with the population served, or a substance abuse professional who has one year of full-time, post-graduate degree accumulated supervised experience in alcoholism and drug abuse counseling; or
(c) a graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree in a human service field and has two years of full-time, post-bachelor's degree accumulated mh/dd/sa experience with the population served, or a substance abuse professional who has two years of full-time, post-bachelor's degree accumulated supervised experience in alcoholism and drug abuse counseling; or
(d) a graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree in a filed other than human services and has four years of full-time, post-bachelor's degree accumulated mh/dd/sa experience with the population served, or a substance abuse professional who has four years of full-time, post-bachelor's degree accumulated supervised experience in alcoholism and drug abuse counseling.
A degree alone does not prepare an applicant for this position. Experience providing mental health or substance abuse services is essential.
Must have Certification in SIS Assessment.

Physical Requirements : Normal range of motion and reasonable physical health and strength will be required. Must have driver's license and must be able to use computers, copiers and other office equipment will be used routinely.

Knowledge of Job : The SIS Assessor must have thorough knowledge of psychometrics and of various psychological assessment instruments, their application, administration, and interpretation. Employee must have a good working knowledge of DSM-IV (or current Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM), its use, and the process of diagnosis. Additionally, employee must demonstrate fidelity to SIS protocol.
This position requires exceptional interpersonal skills, highly effective communication ability, and the propensity to make prompt independent decisions based upon relevant facts and established processes. Problem solving, negotiation and conflict resolution skills are essential to balance the needs of both internal and external customers.
The employee must be detail oriented, able to independently organize multiple tasks and priorities, and to effectively manage an assigned caseload under pressure of deadlines.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (such as Word, Excel, Outlook, etc) and SMC information system is required.

Salary : Grade/Step is determined by qualification and experience of candidate. Salary Range is $34,896- $43,538. Position is full-time salaried with comprehensive benefits. Work schedule is 37.5 hours per week. This position is exempt from overtime compensation.
