Title :   Staff Development and Training Coordinator
Location : Western Region

General Statement of the Job : The Staff Development and Training Coordinator works under the direct supervision of the Sr. Director-Human Resources. This position will oversee and assist in the planning, development, coordination and implementation of training programs for SMC staff and for providers in the SMC provider network, as necessary and appropriate. Responsibilities shall include maintaining the organizational training plan and training schedule that include but are not limited to: new employee orientation, annual organizational training requirements, job specific training plans/requirements and external training for the provider network. The Staff Development and Training Coordinator will be responsible for facilitating, monitoring, evaluating and documenting training activities, as well as for scheduling, managing registration, maintaining attendance records, and preparing/maintaining training materials for training events. This position shall also assist senior management with organizational improvement through the assessment of training needs, identifying organizational problem areas, conducting team building activities. This position shall also keep employees and providers abreast of training opportunities available regionally.

Essential Job Functions : •Maintain the organizational training plan and training schedule that include but are not limited to: new employee orientation, annual organizational training requirements, job specific training plans/requirements and external training for the provider network
•Chair multi-disciplinary organizational training cross-functional team
•Facilitate the development, implementation and/or evaluation of new and existing training programs
•Review outside provider training programs to identify which fulfill the requirements of organizational training goals and objectives
•Oversee and assist in the planning, development, coordination and implementation of training programs for SMC staff and for providers in the SMC provider network, as necessary and appropriate
•Ensure the use of evaluation techniques and proficiency testing methods to measure the effectiveness of training
•Schedule, facilitate, monitor, evaluate and document all internal training activities to include locating and arranging for suitable training sites, managing registration for training, maintaining attendance records, and preparing/maintaining training materials for training events
•Assist senior management with the assessment of the training needs through the design/selection and distribution of surveys, interviews and questionnaires for conducting training needs assessments
•Participate in the preparation and administration of the training budget
•Monitor negotiated training contracts and related service terms and conditions
•Provide information to employees and providers regarding training opportunities available regionally
•Maintain training aids/materials library, as well as a resource list of subject matter experts who provide training
•Communicate with diverse audiences (e.g., employees, agencies, the public, etc.) to provide information and clarification regarding training programs, actions, policies and procedures, as well as to provide training
•Maintain records management of training activities, the training records for staff and maintain the confidentiality of employee and departmental information

Minimum Training and Qualifications : Requires a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in business or public administration, education, or social or behavioral science or related field and one (1) years professional experience in directing, developing, coordinating or evaluating training programs. Must be Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, at a minimum) proficient. Experience within a behavioral health setting preferred. Experience with learning management systems preferred. Applicants with experience in web-based training will be given priority.

Physical Requirements : This position experiences a high degree of mental exertion. This position regularly handles situations that require extensive evaluation and critical thinking. It is imperative that this position be able to work with others in team planning efforts and to problem solve complex situations.

Knowledge of Job : Strong customer service skills. The ability to establish appropriate and respectful relationships/ partnerships with persons with a wide range of ethnicities and abilities. The ability to interact professionally and effectively with persons of all backgrounds. The ability to communicate effectively through all modes of communication with people of all levels both in and outside of the organization including making oral presentations to groups. A command of the rules of English grammar and composition. The ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships, to work as a team member and to take direction. The ability to adapt to frequent and unexpected change. The ability to organize, prioritize, perform multiple tasks concurrently and work efficiently with competing priorities. The ability to organize time and resources (e.g., people, facilities, events, materials, etc.). The ability to conduct research, gather information and analyze a variety of data. The ability to develop feasible short and long-range plans/goals to project and develop programs. High level of detailed orientation is required with little direction and to utilize time efficiently.

Salary : Grade Grade/Step is determined by qualification and experience of candidate. Position is full-time hourly with comprehensive benefits. Hourly range is $17.08 - $19.54. Work schedule is 37.5 hours per week. This position is not exempt from overtime compensation.
