The Smoky Mountain Center
Board of Directors is responsible for collaborative, comprehensive
planning, budgeting, implementing, and monitoring of community-based
mental health, developmental disabilities, and substance abuse services.
The Board appoints an Area Director and establishes policy guidelines
for the Area Director to execute the agency in such a way that meets
the diverse needs of the community.
Board membership includes representatives from county government,
consumers, family members, community leaders, as well as professionals
in health and human service related fields. The number of representatives
for each county is determined by the proportional size of the county
in relation to others in the catchment area, while maintaining a twenty-three
member board.
